Yash is all set to return to the big screen with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups almost four years after KGF 2. Needless to say, the film is already creating significant buzz and interest among moviegoers even before its release. With advance bookings currently underway, theatres in major cities are witnessing a surge in demand with shows going houseful. To meet the demand, cinema halls are expanding their schedules.
Toxic gets early morning and late night shows
The advance bookings for Toxic opened on August 21, around five days prior to release, and early trends have encouraged exhibitors to add more screenings of the gangster drama. Mumbai, especially, is witnessing extensive show demand, due to which some theatres have listed screenings beginning as early as 6 am, giving fans an opportunity to catch Yash on the big screen early in the morning. Meanwhile, other theatres have scheduled their first shows around 7 am.
On the other hand, some establishments have also expanded the show timings to late-night screenings of up to 11:45 pm at some locations. Multiple shows are reportedly going houseful on the opening day as the August 26 release approaches.
Notably, early-morning screenings have increasingly become popular during major event releases in India. Films like Border 2, Dhurandhar 2 and others have also witnessed early morning and late night shows in major cities.
Toxic ticket prices
Interestingly, it’s not just the occupancy that is proving the film’s popularity. The premium ticket rates for Toxic have also climbed sharply in Mumbai and Bengaluru. The costliest ticket currently being sold in Mumbai is reportedly for Rs 2,600, including taxes.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru isn’t far behind, with the tickets for a premium show reportedly selling for Rs 2,181, including taxes. Several multiplexes in both cities have listed premium tickets that go above Rs 1,500.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is all set to arrive in cinemas on August 26. Apart from Yash, the film also features an ensemble cast of Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. The film was recently cleared by the CBFC with a ‘A’ rating and passed without any cuts.
