Ranabaali: Rashmika Mandanna-Vijay Deverakonda's film postponed

The makers of Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda’s eagerly awaited period film, Ranabaali, have now announced a new release date for the film. Notably, the film, which was earlier scheduled to hit screens on September 11 this year, will not hit screens in October around the festive window of Dusshera. However, the new release date also sets the stage for an intense box office clash. Earlier, it was rumoured that the makers were planning an October 30 release.
Ranabaali postponed
Taking to its social media timelines on Thursday, Mythri Movie Makers, the film’s production house, wrote, “The darkest chapter of our history opens this October. Ranabaali GRAND RELEASE WORLDWIDE ON 16.10.26. NeverForget RanabaaliOnOct16th.”
Similarly, Vijay also shared a post of the film and wrote, “This OCT 16. Worldwide in Cinemas near you.”

For the unversed, Vijay Deverakonda plays the titular role, while Rashmika Mandanna plays his wife Jayamma in the period drama. Arnold Vosloo, best known for his role in The Mummy, is set to play the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector.
The movie is reportedly set in the 19th century against a British-era backdrop and is based on real historical events that took place between 1854 and 1878. According to reports, Ranabaali is inspired by real incidents that never found space in mainstream history books.
Notably, Ranabaali marks Rashmika and Vijay’s third collaboration after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. It also marks the first time they will be seen on the big screen together after their marriage in February 2026.
Ranabaali to clash with Jailer 2, Prahaar
Interestingly, the new release date places Ranabaali in direct competition with three other films that are also scheduled to release around mid-October in 2026. However, the film could possibly benefit from the festive Dusshera weekend.
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, Dhanush’s Om and Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar are also scheduled to release around the same time, creating a four-way box office clash. While Jailer 2 is set to arrive in cinemas on October 15, Om and Prahaar are both scheduled to release on October 16.
Notably, Rajkummar Rao’s film was earlier set to release in theatres in August. However, the makers postponed the film to October 16 earlier this month.
