According to the complaint filed by Grewal, he owns a music company, JP Films, in Sarabha Nagar. As per ANI, on October 20, he received several missed calls and voice messages on the company’s official mobile number. As it was Dussehra, the singer was allegedly performing at a celebration in Patiala at that time and thus could not check the messages.
The following day, he listened to the voice messages and heard a caller identifying himself as Gilli Rana, claiming to be associated with the Rohit Godara gang. The audio allegedly demanded Rs 5 crore, asking Grewal to call him back immediately.
The caller also threatened that if the demand was not met, he would ensure that Grewal’s stage shows were stopped. He also threatened to destroy his singing career, while warning that the singer would neither be able to organise stage performances nor continue his musical activities.
A few days later, he received two more threatening voice messages from the same mobile number. Following these, Grewal filed an online complaint with the police. In his complaint, Grewal stated that while he was at his office in Sarabha Nagar, he had received two more calls from an international number on November 1. Upon noticing the missed calls on the afternoon of November 2, and discussing the matter with his family members and close associates, Grewal decided to approach the police.
This comes amid the growing concerns regarding the security of celebrities.
