King100: Tabu to play antagonist against Nagarjuna as they reunite after 28 year

Nagarjuna Akkineni’s 100th film, tentatively titled King100, is creating a lot of buzz ever since it was announced. Fans were also excited for the film since it also stars Tabu in a pivotal role. It will mark a reunion of Tabu and Nagarjuna after 28 years. While the news of Tabu’s casting was known, a new report shed light on her role in the film.
Tabu to play antagonist in Nagarjuna’s King100
Details about Tabu’s character had been kept under wraps by the makers. However, if a recent report is to be believed, Tabu and Nagarjuna are reuniting on screen, but this time not on a romantic track. Tabu will reportedly be seen playing the film’s antagonist.
According to a Variety India report, Tabu will be playing the villain in King100. Directed by RA Karthik, King100 is produced by Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios. Over the years, Tabu has earned acclaim for portraying layered and morally complex characters in films like Maqbool, Haider, Andhadhun, Drishyam and Fitoor.
However, if the report is true, King100 will show her take on another powerful negative role opposite Nagarjuna. Their pairing has already generated excitement among fans as well as the industry alike.
Tabu and Nagarjuna’s reunion
Tabu and Nagarjun were last seen together sharing screen in the 1998 Telugu film Aavida Maa Aavide. They have appeared together in the 1996 hit Ninne Pelladata and Sisindri (1995), prior to that. Their latest collaboration on King100 thus marks a nostalgic moment for fans.
Tabu started shooting for the film in April this year. She had shared a glimpse from the sets of King100 on social media as she wrote, “And we begin with the King100 Nagarjuna annapurnastudios.”
Earlier, speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Nagarjuna had opened up about his long-standing association with Tabu. “We go back a very long way. I have known her from the time she started. When Tabu found out that I was doing my hundredth film, she wanted to be a part of it,” he had shared.
Talking of Tabu’s workfront, she was last seen in Bhooth Bangla, alongside Akshay Kumar, Wamiqa Gabbi and Paresh Rawal. Tabu also recently made her mark globally, featuring in a key role as Sister Francesca in Dune: Prophecy.
