As Ram Charan`s latest film continues to face massive backlash on social media over the oversexualisation of Janhvi Kapoor`s character as the female lead, reports of the actress`s paycheque have now surfaced. Janhvi Kapoor`s fees for Peddi
Amid this, a report by Bollywood Hungama now suggests that the actress was paid a whopping Rs 8 crore for Peddi, noting that this was the biggest paycheque of her career. A source reportedly told the portal, “This is the biggest pay cheque of her career, and she was a thorough professional on the sets of Peddi. She was paid Rs. 5 crores for Devara, and this is a jump of about 50 per cent from Devara. With back-to-back success in the Telugu film industry with Devara and Peddi, Janhvi is considered to be the woman with a golden leg in the fraternity, commanding a 100 per cent success ratio.”
The source further added that the actress was being offered multiple Telugu films. Janhvi also reportedly has Allu Arjun-starrer Raaka lined up. Additionally, the actress could be seen in more Telugu films in future.
On the other hand, Janhvi`s allegedly leaked chats amid the backlash over Peddi, revealed that she was not keen on doing more South Indian films.
Backlash around Janhvi Kapoor`s role in Peddi
After Peddi was released on June 4, 2026, the film faced massive backlash over the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor`s Achiyyamma in the sports drama. Many viewers pointed out that her character was oversexualised with unnecessary focus on her body parts.
Similarly, many even highlighted the objectionable dialogues that objectified her. Meanwhile, one scene from the film, where the protagonist, Ram Charan, forcibly kisses her without her consent and later justifies it as his way of expressing love, has also received a lot of flak.
Janhvi Kapoor is yet to react to the ongoing controversies surrounding Peddi. However, several celebrities have voiced their views on the objectification of actresses in films, especially in the South Indian cinema.
