The much-awaited trailer of Jailer 2 is out, bringing back superstar Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian in what promises to be another larger-than-life action entertainer. Jailer 2 trailer out
The Jailer 2 trailer begins with a mysterious search for a missing man, leaving gangsters and powerful syndicate members desperate to track him down. The trail eventually leads to Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, played by Rajinikanth, who seems to have settled into a quiet life before being dragged back into the action. Packed with gunfights, explosions and trademark mass moments, the trailer features striking sequences. It also introduces SJ Suryah as a dangerous antagonist and features glimpses of Vidya Balan, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Yogi Babu.
The glimpse of Vidya and Rajinikanth together is particularly exciting, as the two National Award-winning performers share the frame for the first time. Vidya’s unconventional avatar and mysterious presence add another layer to the film, while her chemistry and equation with Rajinikanth remain something audiences will be eager to discover when the film releases.
More about Jailer 2
The film is set to hit theatres on October 15, 2026, promising a bigger spectacle and another memorable outing for Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Dhanush-starrer Om was earlier slated to hit theatres on October 16, but will now release on an alternative date to avoid a clash with legend Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Dhanush will star alongside Mammootty in the upcoming Tamil film.
The film has reportedly bagged a massive Rs 160 crore deal for its OTT streaming rights, which makes it one of the biggest non-theatrical deals in the Tamil film industry to date. According to reports, the film is being made on a budget of Rs 250 crore to Rs 350 crore. For the unversed, prior to Jailer 2, the OTT rights of Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s action thriller Leo (2023) were the highest in the industry.
The original Jailer was released in 2023 and emerged as a blockbuster, establishing itself as one of Rajinikanth’s biggest recent successes. Its strong performance in theatres has raised expectations for the sequel.
