Parvathy Thiruvothu has addressed reports about her unfollowing filmmaker Geetu Mohandas on social media, dismissing speculation of a rift between the two. In a recent interview, the actor said there was “nothing” behind the move and criticised attempts to pit women against each other. Amid poor performance, she also refused to comment on Yash’s Toxic, as it could influence how it’s perceived.
Parvathy on unfollowing Geetu Mohandas
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Parvathy was asked about unfollowing Geetu. She dismissed the matter and said there was no story behind it. “Nothing happened there. There’s nothing to make news out of it. I think there is a concerted effort to pit women against women. That’s something that I am not going to bite anymore,” she asserted.
“Especially because of the WCC, it is very easy to pit us against each other, and they would love nothing but for me to give about the follow-unfollow scenario. We have a far better understanding of each other within WCC, knowing how we have been thrown under the bus several times.”
Parvathy further clarified that she does not want to make a statement about Geetu or her film that could influence how Toxic is perceived. “For me to even make one statement right now… because that movie has to exist on its own right without anyone making a statement on it. I believe that if Geetu wants to make a movie, she wants to make it and that has to come out that way without any interpersonal dislike. I completely refuse to bite into it,” she said.
About Kasaba controversy
Back in 2016, Parvathy criticised Kasaba for the way women were shown in the film. Geetu, who was with her during the discussion, encouraged Parvathy to name the film. The actor was trolled for years following her comments. Kerala Women’s Commission issued notices to Mammootty, Kasaba’s director and producer over certain scenes and dialogues in the movie that allegedly showed women in a poor light.
On the work front, Parvathy is gearing up for the release of Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar, set to release on September 11. She will soon star in Hrithik Roshan’s maiden production titled The Storm, which also stars Alaya F, Srishti Shrivastava, Rrama Sharma, and Saba Azad.
