Why CM Vijay's Jana Nayagan tickets priced 5 times more in Karnataka

As excitement continues to build ahead of the release of Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s last film, Jana Nayagan, the authorities are reportedly taking all necessary steps to prevent moviegoers in his home state from paying unreasonable ticket prices. Despite the high demand and sales, the tickets for CM Vijay’s film will be capped at Rs 190 in the state. Meanwhile, the neighbouring states like Karnataka have been selling tickets for 5x the price.
Jana Nayagan ticket prices capped at Rs 190
Jana Nayagan makers recently announced that the movie was officially headed for its theatrical release on July 23 after facing a seven-month-long delay from its original January date. The film will also be released in Telugu as Jana Nayakudu and in Hindi as Jan Neta.
According to reports, the advance booking window for H Vinoth’s directorial is likely to begin from July 19 in Tamil Nadu. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film has already crossed Rs 4 crore in worldwide advance bookings. The reports stated that theatres may be monitored to prevent any unofficial premium pricing that often follows major star releases, in order to ensure compliance with the approved ticket rates.
Additionally, it is believed that Vijay himself wanted the release to be hassle-free and did not wish to give the impression that his film was given special treatment due to his political position.
Jana Nayagan ticket prices in neighbouring states
While the ticket prices continue to be under control in Tamil Nadu, the audiences in other states are still paying much higher rates. Since dynamic pricing is allowed in Karnataka, the first-day tickets of Jana Nayagan were allegedly sold for Rs 800 to Rs 1,000, especially for morning shows.
Similarly, several neighbouring states have adopted the flexible pricing route to sell premium first-day tickets for hundreds of rupees. However, Tamil Nadu will stick to the government-approved ticket structure. According to NDTV, sources stated that theatre owners in the state will rigorously adhere to the pricing rules.
Along with CM Vijay, Jana Nayagan also features Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj and Gautham Vasudev Menon in key roles.
