After the blockbuster success of Karuppu, Suriya has returned to the screen in a different avatar this time with Vishwanath And Sons. The family drama hit the screens on August 14, 2025 on the occasion of the Independence Day weekend. Needless to say, Suriya’s fan did not miss a chance to catch the film on its first day in the theatres. Likewise, the early moviegoers have shared their reviews of the film on social media and it paints a fairly decent picture of the Suriya-starrer.

Sharing their review of the film, one user on X gave it 2.5 stars out of 5 and wrote, “Directed by Venky Atluri and starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, Vishwanath & Sons is a clean, heart-warming, feel-good family drama that places human relationships and emotional bonds right at its core. Delivering a mix of warm humor and light.”
Another user who found the film ‘Okayish’ wrote, “VishwanathAndSons – Suriya is Super Charming. Mamitha-Radhika combo total Fun. GV’s BGM Supports. Calling the film a ‘complete feel good entertainer’, a fan wrote, “VishwanathAndSons – Excellent First Half, Followed by an Decent Second half A Complete Feel Good entertainer overloaded with Many Fun moment and a bit of emotional sequences” The user went on to particularly praise the climax saying. “Providing an apt climax was the toughest one for the film, but it was perfectly mounted by VenkiAtluri, which came out wholesome and Lovely.”
Another early moviegoer wrote, “VishwanathAndSons Simple lightweight happy film with lots of importance to the happy part Humour works well throughout Wouldve loved more emotional depth on the core than the formulaic subplot in the 2nd half Suriya and Mamith Nice jolly watch.”
On the other hand, a not-so-impressed user wrote, “Disappointing film that fails to deliver on its promising premise. The pacing is sluggish, and the plot feels disjointed, leaving the audience bored. Overall, it’s a forgettable experience that doesn’t live up to its hype. Review 1.5/5”

Similarly, another viewer detailed, “VishwanathAndSons Decent family drama. Enjoyable first half, disappointing second. Raveena Tandon’s subplot misfires and derails it. Every scene with Mamitha is engaging, the biggest flaw is how little we see her in 2nd half. More of her could’ve changed this one’s fate,” and gave it 2.5 stars.

Vishwanath And Sons revolves around Sanjay Vishwanath, played by Suriya, an internationally recognised shooter whose life is shaped by his ambition and dedication to the sport. As he grows older, his family responsibilities start to challenge the life he has built around the sport.
