Vijay Sethupathi’s remarks draw parallels with CM Vijay, channel clarifies

Vijay Sethupathi’s comments on leadership during the latest episode of Bigg Boss Tamil 10 have sparked speculation among viewers, with some social media users interpreting his remarks as a possible reference to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay.
During the weekend episode, Vijay Sethupathi was addressing contestant Shatiga over her approach to leadership during a house task. The task involved a ruling team and an opposition group, prompting the host to question how she handled responsibility and dealt with disagreements.
Vijay Sethupathi’s comment sparks backlash
Vijay Sethupathi reportedly criticised Shatiga for making promises without considering their consequences and then stepping away when problems emerged. He also questioned the tendency to blame the opposition when things go wrong. Describing such behaviour as not being genuine leadership, the actor called it “pure deception”.

Just because @VijaySethuOffl made a statement that can be juxtaposed to the current political condition of our state, he is being witch hunted
He is not a nepo kid like @actorvijay
If just commenting on politics could put his hardwork into jeapordy, its sad and dangerous!…

The conversation took an unexpected turn when the host referred to aspects involving the ruling party and opposition. A clip of the exchange subsequently went viral, with some netizens drawing parallels between his comments and recent political developments in Tamil Nadu.

However, Vijay Sethupathi did not directly mention Chief Minister Vijay, his political party or any specific political incident while speaking to Shatiga. The connection has largely emerged from social media interpretations of the episode.
The channel issues statement in clarification
The channel Vijay TV then issued a statement clarifying that the remark made by Vijay Sethupati wasn’t targeting anyone but was a feedback for the Bigg Boss contestant, “The situations, conversations, expressions and interactions featured in the programme form part of its evolving narrative and are to be understood in the context in which they occur within the show. No reference or expression in the programme should be construed as representing, endorsing or commenting upon any person, organisation, institution, ideology or circumstance outside the context of the programme. Any interpretation or association beyond the programme and its intended entertainment context is neither intended nor endorsed.”

Vijay has faced criticism from political opponents and critics over allegations that he left the scene after the fatal stampede at his rally in Karur on September 27, 2025. More recently, ahead of a legislative assembly session, Vijay reportedly asked Speaker JCD Prabhakar to ensure that DMK members remained seated to hear his point-by-point response before walking away.
Interestingly, Vijay Sethupathi has shared a warm equation with Vijay for years. He has affectionately addressed the actor as “Anna” and spoken about his admiration for him. During the release of Master, in which the two actors shared screen space, Vijay Sethupathi even kissed Vijay on the cheek, highlighting their camaraderie.
