Mohanlal is all set to headline a story rooted in one of India’s most significant overseas evacuation missions. The Malayalam superstar’s upcoming film, previously known as L367, has officially been titled Operation Ganga. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Vishnu Mohan, the film promises to bring the high-stakes operation to the big screen.
Mohanlal leads Operation Ganga
The title refers to India’s evacuation mission during the Russia-Ukraine war, when the country worked to bring home thousands of Indian citizens, including students, stranded in Ukraine following the outbreak of the conflict. Described by the makers as a story of “a nation’s promise”, the film will explore the mission carried out on foreign soil and its eventual culmination.

While details about Mohanlal’s character are being kept under wraps, Operation Ganga has already assembled a sizeable cast. Arjun Rampal, Bhagyashri Borse, Parthiban and Adil Hussain will feature in key roles alongside the Malayalam superstar.
The film is being mounted with a notable technical team, adding to the scale of the project. Polish cinematographer Miroslaw Kuba Brozek, known for his work on Pushpa and Pushpa 2, is handling the camera. Rajeevan, whose production design credits include GOAT, Meiyazhagan, Amaran and Kathanar, is on board as production designer.
Action choreography comes from Sea Young Oh, known for Dhurandhar and Kill, while Shashwat Sachdev, who recently scored Dhurandhar, will compose the music. The team also includes editor Shameer Mohammed and sound designer Bishwadeep Chatterjee, whose credits include Dhurandhar, Uri: The Surgical Strike, 3 Idiots and Padmaavat.
Star-studded technical crew
VFX supervisor K V Sanjit, known for Kantara, will oversee the visual effects, while Squadron Leader Varlin Panwar serves as the military advisor, bringing experience from projects including Safed Sagar, Border 2 and Fighter. Melvy J is the costume director, with Ronex Xavier handling makeup and Rinny Divakar serving as production controller.
Produced by Gokulam Gopalan under Sree Gokulam Movies, the film has Baiju Gopalan and V C Praveen as co-producers and Krishnamoorthy as executive producer.
With a real-life national mission at its centre and Mohanlal leading an ensemble cast, Operation Ganga is shaping up as an ambitious addition to the actor’s upcoming slate. Mohanlal was last seen in Drishyam 3, which was released on May 21, 2026.
