Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s last film, Jana Nayagan. The film, which has been facing delays since January, is finally set to release on July 24, according to reports. Amid this, a new report now suggests Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut Sigma, could be delayed.
Sigma postponed
According to NDTV, Jason Sanjay’s Tamil film Sigma will not release on July 31 as expected and has been pushed to August, given Jana Nayagan’s release.
Additionally, the report suggests that Jason is also set to make his acting debut. The discussion for his acting project is going on, and it will be produced by GKM Tamil Kumaran. Lyca Productions, headed by GKM Tamil Kumaran, has also produced Sigma. Now, Tamil Kumaran is likely to produce Jason Sanjay’s acting debut as well under his own banner, according to reports.
Coming to Sigma, the film stars Sundeep Kishan in the lead role, and it is believed to be a high-octane heist entertainer with lots of comedy and a treasure hunt-kind scenario. The movie is reportedly shot across Tamil Nadu and Thailand and has music by S Thaman. The film also includes Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiv Pandit, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Magalakshmi, Sheela Rajkumar, Kamalesh, and Kiran Konda as the cast.
Jana Nayagan to release on July 24
While actor and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is currently focused on his political responsibilities, his final film before stepping away from the big screen still awaits release. Jana Nayagan, touted to be the actor-turned-politician’s swansong, was originally scheduled to release in January 2026.
However, the release of the film was postponed after the makers faced delays in obtaining certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Now, the latest reports claim that the film could finally be released on July 24.
A Canada-based distributor recently hinted at Jana Nayagan’s possible theatrical release on July 24. The buzz comes after reports that the film has finally cleared the CBFC process and was awaiting the issuance of its censor certificate. Canada-based distributor York Cinemas shared a post on X, sparking excitement among fans on July 8.
