Megastar Rajinikanth has once again shown his impressive hold at the box office. His latest film, Jailer 2, was released worldwide on Thursday, October 15, and garnered a strong response. The film has already witnessed massive demand during advance bookings, and the early figures indicate that it is heading for the record-breaking opening in Tamil cinema.
Jailer 2 box office collection day 1
Helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel has drawn widespread attention across several languages. It has also outperformed many popular Tamil films, including Vijay’s Goat and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, based on the live collection figures on Sacnilk.
By 10 pm on release day, Jailer 2 has earned Rs 52.37 crore net at the domestic box office across 15,887 shows. The film has registered an India gross collection of Rs 61.80 crore. These figures are based on live updates, and the final collection for Day 1 is yet to be reported.

Tamil remains the major contributor to Jailer 2 opening-day earnings, followed by Telugu and Hindi
Tamil: Rs 39.03 crore from 8,723 shows
Telugu: Rs 9.55 crore from 2,727 shows
Hindi: Rs 3.38 crore from 4,327 shows
Kannada: Rs 0.38 crore from 110 shows
Jailer 2 surpasses biggest blockbusters on opening day
Jailer 2 has already crossed Rs 50 crore net in India on its first day, surpassing recent blockbusters including Beast (Rs 49 crore), GOAT (Rs 44 crore), Jana Nayagan (Rs 43 crore), and Vikram (Rs 32 crore). The advance bookings for the film had surpassed Rs 80 crore worldwide. For opening day in India alone, the film sold 18 lakh tickets in pre-sales, grossing Rs 37 crore.

Backed by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 brings Rajinikanth back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik reprise their roles from the first film. The new cast members include Vidya Balan, S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna. Hrithik Roshan, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff also have cameo appearances.
