Jitin Gulati is stepping into a new phase of his career with two major Telugu projects on his slate. The actor will be seen in Hanu Raghavapudi’s Fauzi alongside Prabhas and Prasanth Varma’s Mahakali, which also stars Akshaye Khanna. Gulati opened up about how the two films came his way and his experience of working with Prabhas.
Jitin Gulati recalls bagging Fauzi
For Gulati, his South Indian cinema journey began unexpectedly. An opportunity to work on Fauzi eventually helped him land Mahakali, giving him the chance to collaborate with two prominent filmmakers in Telugu cinema.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Gulati revealed that his casting in Fauzi happened soon after his pictures reached Raghavapudi. He was already in Hyderabad when the filmmaker called him for a meeting, and the decision came remarkably quickly. “I met Hanu sir at 5:30 PM and at 5:40 PM, I think he told me that I’m doing the film,” Gulati recalled, calling it the fastest he has ever landed a film.
His involvement in Fauzi also indirectly opened the door to Mahakali. “One of the ADs and one of the people who was working on Fauzi saw my rushes in Fauzi and recommended me to Prasanth,” he said.
Gulati has worked across films, television and streaming, with credits including M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Broken But Beautiful, Bambai Meri Jaan and Girls Will Be Girls. His upcoming Telugu films now mark another expansion of his acting journey.
Jitin Gulati talks about working with Prabhas
Gulati also opened up about sharing screen space with Prabhas in Fauzi. Despite having worked with one of Indian cinema’s biggest stars, he said the actor’s approach on set is far removed from the enormous scale of his stardom.
Recalling his first interaction with Prabhas, Gulati said, “The first day when I met him last year, I’m not joking. When he came on the set, it was actually like Amarendra Baahubali is walking on the set.”
However, he quickly found the actor to be relaxed and approachable. “He himself does not carry that weight at all. He is very easy-going,” Gulati said, adding that Prabhas is “one of the most endearing actors to work with.”
Gulati’s comments offer a glimpse into his experience behind the scenes of Fauzi, while Mahakali represents another major opportunity in his move into Telugu cinema. With both projects being mounted on a large scale, the actor is now looking forward to audiences seeing his work in a new language and industry.
