Being the son of one of Telugu cinema’s biggest stars might make people expect a little generosity when rating films. Gautam Ghattamaneni, son of Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar, appears to have other ideas. The 20-year-old’s Letterboxd ratings have caught fans’ attention after he gave Yash’s latest film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups just half a star. Yes, you heard that right!
Mahesh Babu’s son rates Yash’s Toxic half a star
According to India Today, fans came across Gautam’s Letterboxd profile and began sharing screenshots of his film ratings online. The one that attracted the most attention was his verdict on Toxic, which released on August 26: 0.5 out of 5 stars. Directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring Yash, Toxic has generated sharply divided reactions since its release. While its action, visuals and Yash’s screen presence have found supporters, other viewers have been less impressed. Gautam’s rating quickly became another talking point.

What surprised fans even more was that Gautam seems equally willing to give his father’s films low scores. His ratings show plenty of love for some Mahesh Babu favourites. Pokiri and 1: Nenokkadine received a perfect 5 stars, while Athadu reportedly received 4.5. But others did not fare nearly as well. Gautam rated Nijam and Vamsi 2 stars each, while Brahmotsavam received only 1 star.

His five-star list goes beyond Telugu cinema
Gautam’s profile also suggests that his interest in movies stretches across languages and genres. India Today reports that Gautam has logged more than 400 films. Among those earning 5 stars from him are Sholay, Knives Out, Jersey, and Baahubali 2. At the opposite end, Liger joined Toxic with a half-star rating, while Kalki 2898 AD received 2.5 stars. The discovery has inevitably sparked arguments among fans over whether his scores are too harsh or refreshingly candid. But one thing is clear from the range of ratings: having a superstar father hasn’t stopped Gautam from forming his own opinions about films, including Mahesh Babu’s.
