Sandeep Reddy Vanga is taking his time with Spirit, and the filmmaker’s unusual shooting schedule appears to be all about getting the details right. The Prabhas-starrer, which is among the most awaited films of 2027, is being made with a stop-and-start production plan that gives the team almost a month between short shooting schedules.
Spirit’s unusual schedule
In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Vanga revealed that the team will shoot for only around five days at a stretch before taking an extended break.
“We will shoot continuously for about five days and then take a break for almost a month,” he said.
While such a schedule may sound unconventional for a big-budget action drama, Vanga believes the long gaps will ultimately benefit the film. Instead of rushing from one schedule to another, the filmmaker and his team can use the downtime to closely examine the footage, work on post-production and prepare for the next phase.
“The gaps will give us enough time to focus on the quality of the scenes, work on post-production and plan the next schedule properly,” Vanga explained.
The approach also appears to reflect the filmmaker’s focus on getting the finer aspects of Spirit right. With action, performances and production elements being developed simultaneously, the breaks give the team an opportunity to assess what has already been filmed before moving ahead.
A minor fire reportedly broke out on the sets of Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas’ Spirit recently, leaving a crew member with minor injuries.
Prabhas film takes shape
Vanga, known for Arjun Reddy and Animal, has also expressed confidence in the material shot so far, saying the output is shaping up exceptionally well.
Spirit stars Prabhas in the lead, with Triptii Dimri as the female lead. Vivek Oberoi is set to play the antagonist, while veteran actors Prakash Raj and Kanchana are also part of the cast.
The film has generated considerable buzz not only because of Prabhas’ presence but also because it marks Vanga’s next directorial outing after the massive success of Animal. The filmmaker is once again stepping into an intense action-drama space, with expectations riding high on the scale and storytelling.
With the production deliberately moving at its own pace, fans may have to wait a little longer for glimpses of what Vanga and Prabhas are building. Spirit is currently slated to hit theatres on March 5, 2027.
