Ram Charan’s praise for Peddi triggers comparison with RRR and Magadheera

Ram Charan is riding high on the success of his latest release Peddi, but a recent comment by the actor has sparked an unexpected debate among fans. While celebrating the film’s strong box-office run at a thank-you meet in Hyderabad, Ram Charan described Peddi as one of the top two films of his career a statement that quickly divided opinion online.
Ram Charan`s Peddi statement sparks debate
Speaking about the audience response to the film, Ram Charan said he was pleasantly surprised by the applause certain scenes were receiving in theatres. He added that Peddi would likely rank first or second in his filmography, reflecting the personal satisfaction he derived from the project and the overwhelming reaction from viewers.
However, the remark did not sit well with a section of fans. Many social media users argued that placing Peddi so high in his career rankings seemed unfair to some of his most celebrated films, particularly RRR, Magadheera, and Rangasthalam. These films, directed by acclaimed filmmakers such as S. S. Rajamouli and Sukumar, are widely regarded as milestones in Ram Charan’s journey as an actor.
Several fans expressed their disappointment online, with some claiming the statement indirectly undermined the contribution of the directors behind those landmark films. Others questioned how Peddi could be ranked above movies that not only earned critical acclaim but also played a major role in shaping Ram Charan’s stardom. Fans claimed that he forgot his previous hits and filmmakers.
All about Peddi backlash
Despite the backlash, Peddi continues to enjoy remarkable commercial success. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the sports-action drama follows a gifted cricketer from a neglected village who uses his sporting talent to bring recognition and opportunities to his community. The film stars Ram Charan alongside Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu, Shivarajkumar, Boman Irani, and Divyenndu. The film has reportedly crossed the Rs 300-crore mark worldwide, cementing its position as one of the biggest Telugu hits of the year.
While opinions remain divided over Ram Charan’s ranking of the film, there is little doubt that Peddi has become a significant chapter in his career, both for its commercial achievements and the conversations it has generated among fans.
