After Karuppu success, Vijay Deverakonda tells Suriya to holiday only in India

Despite hurdles in its release, Karuppu, starring Suriya, has emerged as a blockbuster at the box office. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film, which was initially scheduled to release on May 14, was eventually released a day later on May 15 due to financial hurdles.
Now, Suriya has taken to social media to thank everyone who congratulated him on the film’s success and sent their best wishes. Among them was actor Vijay Deverakonda, who suggested that Suriya take a well-deserved holiday.
Vijay Deverakonda asks Suriya to take a holiday
On Saturday, Vijay Deverakonda took to X and praised the team of Karuppu following its overwhelming response at the box office. He wrote, “So happy to see the overwhelming love for @Suriya_offl anna’s Karuppu in Tamil and Veerabhadrudu in Telugu. Hearing it is huuuuge.”
He further added, “Love, love, love the news. For the brilliance he has been showing us on screen, giving his everything every year… finally, when the theatres are loud and noisy, it fills all of us with joy.”
He also urged Suriya to take a break, writing, “Big congratulations, anna. Please take a nice holiday. Congratulations to director RJ Balaji and dearest Trisha Krishnan.”
Responding to Vijay’s message, Suriya quote-tweeted the post and wrote, “Haha! All this is for our dear fans…! By the way, which is a good holiday spot?”
To this, Vijay said he would send his Indian holiday destination recommendations privately, referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent advice to citizens to avoid unnecessary foreign travel.
He wrote, “Prime Minister asked everyone not to go abroad. So sending my Indian recommendations, where you can have some peaceful private time… on WhatsApp, anna.”
In the film, Suriya plays Saravanan, a lawyer who takes the form of the local deity Karuppusamy. The story follows a helpless father and daughter who are robbed and trapped in a corrupt legal system.

Karuppu box office
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Karuppu collected Rs 14.4 crore net on its opening day, while its gross domestic earnings stood at Rs 16.66 crore. The film also brought in Rs 4 crore from overseas markets, taking its worldwide gross collection to Rs 20.66 crore.
Of the total Rs 14.4 crore net collection, the Tamil version contributed Rs 12 crore, while the Telugu dubbed version added Rs 2.4 crore. Across 4,891 shows on day one, the Tamil version registered an overall occupancy of 50.35 percent.
According to Sacnilk, Karuppu earned Rs 68 crore in India net collections in its first three days. Its India gross stands at Rs 78.75 crore, while overseas markets have contributed Rs 42 crore, taking the film’s worldwide gross to Rs 120.75 crore after its opening weekend. With this, the film crossed the Rs 100-crore mark in just three days.
