Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 could have a surprise waiting for fans when it moves from theatres to streaming. Reports suggest the film’s digital version may include around 30 minutes of additional footage, potentially bringing back scenes featuring Mohanlal, Vijay Sethupathi and other major stars. However, the makers have yet to confirm the extended cut.
Will Jailer 2’s OTT version include deleted scenes?
The reported extra footage could restore scenes that were left out of the theatrical release. According to The Economic Times, the digital version may include portions featuring Mohanlal, Vijay Sethupathi, Hrithik Roshan and comedian Santhanam.
Santhanam’s appearance had drawn curiosity after he featured in the film’s shooting-completion video, but his scenes were reportedly missing from the theatrical cut. Mohanlal’s limited screen time also disappointed some fans, while Vijay Sethupathi’s portions were said to have been trimmed.
The reported 30 minutes of additional material could offer viewers a longer version of Nelson Dilipkumar’s action entertainer. Still, it is unclear which scenes will be restored or whether the director has approved an extended edition.
Jailer 2 OTT release date and platform
The film is reportedly expected to arrive on Amazon Prime Video around November 12, following a four-week theatrical-to-OTT window. Sun NXT has also been mentioned in reports, but the streaming platform and date have not been officially announced.
Jailer 2 box office success
Released in theatres on October 15, Jailer 2 has reportedly crossed Rs 800 crore worldwide, making it one of the biggest Tamil hits of the year. The sequel features Rajinikanth alongside Ramya Krishnan, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi and Hrithik Roshan. For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement to learn whether the additional footage will make it to the streaming version.
