Instead, the film takes inspiration from a real historical period and explores the struggles of people in Rayalaseema during the British colonial era. In the film, Vijay Deverakonda essays the titular role of Ranabaali, who is portrayed as a Telugu man from Rayalaseema who fights against British oppression. On the other hand, Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, his wife. Arnold Vosloo also plays the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector, a British oppressor in the film.
In the recently released trailer, Ranabaali is shown as a legendary figure who refused to surrender to English oppressors’ exploitation. However, it should also be considered that he has not been claimed as a specific historical legend.
