The launch event is expected to be a significant affair, with actor Kamal Haasan attending as the chief guest. The ceremony will be held at a music academy in Chennai and will coincide with the 110th birth anniversary of Subbulakshmi. The Indian Choral Ensemble is also expected to pay tribute to the iconic singer by performing some of her celebrated compositions.
For Rashmika, the role marks a major departure from the commercial and contemporary characters she has played in recent years. Subbulakshmi remains one of India’s most revered musical figures, whose contribution to Carnatic music earned her recognition both nationally and internationally. She was the first musician to receive the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour.
