Toxic controversy: Another YouTuber claims legal notice, takes sharp dig at Yash

Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups has been released in theatres for just two days, but the film is already grabbing headlines beyond its reviews and box office. Several YouTubers and influencers who posted negative reviews of the Geetu Mohandas directorial appear to have received legal notices from the team. Before the release, makers had approached the Bengaluru court to receive a temporary interim order against the circulation of any false or defamatory content about the film. After release, a YouTuber shared a screengrab of a legal notice he received over his Toxic review. Now another YouTuber has also addressed similar claims.
Toxic team sends another legal notice to a YouTuber
On Thursday, a YouTuber named Suraj Kumar shared a screenshot of a legal notice he recieved over his Toxic review. The notice was issued by Bengaluru-based Aiplex Software Private Limited on behalf of KVN-Monster Mind Creations LLP, identified as the producer and copyright owner of Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups. Now, another YouTuber named Prashanth Rangaswamy, known by the X handle itiprashanth, made similar claims.
He took to his X account to slam Yash and wrote, “Got legal notice from @TheNameIsYash and @KvnProductions for #Toxic review. I thought he is all macho in real life as well. Looks like he is just another rich and influential person!” However, he didn’t post any screenshot as Suraj did, so we couldn’t independently verify his claim. At the time of publishing, his Toxic review video was available on YouTube.
When did the same happen before?
Not the first time a film has reached out to Aiplex to seek such court orders. In the past, major Telugu and Kannada films have approached the court and obtained orders to omit reviews on BookMyShow, similarly to what the team Toxic has done now. In the past, Telugu YouTuber Sushant, who owns the channel Barbell Pitch Meetings, made accusations against Aiplex and filmmakers of misusing copyright strikes and legal notices to supress critical reviews during a film’s crucial early days at the box office.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas and backed by Venkat K Narayana and Yash through KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations LLP, Toxic stars Yash in dual roles, alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.
