TN CM Vijay's son Jason Sanjay reacts to rumours surrounding family rift

Jason Sanjay, the son of actor-turned-politician and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, has finally spoken up about the rumours of a rift within his family. He also opened up about his father’s historic election victory, while also opening up about the constant public scrutiny surrounding their family. His comments come at a time when speculation about the family’s personal life has been doing the rounds for some time now.

During a conversation with Behindwoods TV, Jason Sanjay reflected on his father Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s (TVK) historic victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in April 2026. Jason noted that the achievement had brought added responsibility for the entire family.
“It is a historic revolution that has taken place. Because of this, whether it is me, my sister or my entire family, we have all received an additional responsibility and legacy to carry forward. We also need to safeguard it. We will have to be extremely careful and cautious,” Jason said.
Jason added that despite being the son of one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, his father never wanted to hand him success. He spoke about how Vijay encouraged him to carve out his own path instead of relying on his family name.
He shared, “He wanted me to build my own identity and name. What worked best for both of us was that we were thinking along the same lines. We were on the same page. As a father, he helped me. But when it came to my career, he motivated me to learn things on my own and gain ground-level experience. He never spoon-fed me. I am really thankful to him, my mom and my entire family.”

During the conversation, Jason also addressed the public attention that often leads to speculation and assumptions, although he did not directly refer to the rumours surrounding his family.
Jason, who made his directorial debut with Sigma recently, said, “Sometimes, there are positive narratives and other times, not-so-positive ones. I often go through these posts and comments. I have been looking at how things are being received, whether it is in terms of my film or my family in general. Looking at the various comments, I think every comment serves a different purpose. Some people want to encourage me, while others start criticising our personalities and family. They make assumptions about us. There is a lot of love, legacy and responsibility because of my family.”
